Hey everyone, Adrian here! As we dive into brainstorming for our 2-minute opening film, Tati and I have been drawing a lot of inspiration from the romance genre, specifically from the classic movie The Notebook. Its emotional storytelling and timeless love story are definitely influencing our ideas as we consider creating a romantic opening for our project.
How The Notebook is Inspiring Us
One of the reasons we’re leaning toward the romance genre is how The Notebook captures the journey of a relationship in such a heartfelt way. It’s not just about the grand gestures or big romantic moments—it’s about the little details, the struggles, and how two people come together despite their differences. That’s something we want to bring into our own story, whether it’s through flashbacks, character dynamics, or moments that show the growth of a relationship.
In our brainstorming sessions, we’ve been discussing how to create something just as memorable but in a much shorter time frame. We’re thinking about incorporating contrasts between characters, like in The Notebook, where their different worlds collide and create tension but ultimately bring them closer together.
Our Notebook-Inspired Halloween
Tati and I even took our love for The Notebook a step further this past Halloween. We dressed up in a costume inspired by the iconic movie! I went as Noah, with a casual, vintage vibe, while Tati nailed Allie’s classic, elegant look. It was a fun way to channel that timeless romance and bring a little bit of The Notebook magic to life.
Moving Forward
As we continue brainstorming, The Notebook is definitely helping guide us toward the kind of story we want to tell—something emotional, relatable, and full of heart. We’re excited to see how this inspiration shapes our final decision for the 2-minute opening film.
Stay tuned for the next blog, where I’ll share more about our ideas for the romance genre and the two concepts we’re deciding between! Let us know if The Notebook is one of your favorites, too!
