Hey everyone, Adrian here! As everything wraps up with the final film, CCRs, and blog posts all coming together, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on this whole journey and what this Media Studies course has meant to me.
The Best Cambridge Course Experience
Out of all the Cambridge courses I’ve taken, Media Studies has easily been my favorite. It’s one of the only classes where students get to express their creativity and put together a project that feels like a real media release. I think that’s what makes it stand out so much—especially for students who are actually willing to put in the work. Even though it was my teacher’s first year teaching this course, she honestly did great. Everything was well-explained, the structure was clear, and she made the expectations for the final portfolio super easy to follow.
From Digital Media to Media Studies
If you’ve been keeping up with my earlier blogs, you’ll know I was originally in the now-discontinued Digital Media course. That course got shut down due to low pass rates, and everyone in it (including me) got moved to Media Studieswithout a choice. At the time, I didn’t know what to expect, but looking back now… I’m honestly glad it happened. Media Studies ended up being way more fun, creative, and hands-on than I ever imagined.
From Interviews to Opening Films
Some of the biggest highlights for me were the preliminary tasks, especially the class interview activity. That was the moment I really got into the groove of filming and editing. After that, diving into the research, planning, and productionof our two-minute opening film felt like a real creative journey. We had so many twists and turns—genre changes, script rewrites, rescheduling due to cast availability—but every single step taught me something new.
The Final Takeaway
This whole experience helped me grow—not just as a student—but as a storyteller, planner, and someone who understands how much effort it takes to bring a vision to life. Our film Fading Into You wasn’t just a school project. It was something we were all proud to work on.
Thanks for sticking around through all 70+ blogs! This might be the end of the journey, but I’ve got a few more posts to wrap it all up. Stay tuned!
