Blog #28: The Script is in the Works!

Hey everyone, Adrian here! We’re making big progress on our romance film opening, and I’m excited to announce that the script is officially in the works. Now that we’ve finalized our decision to go with a memory-based love story, we’re shaping the dialogue and scenes to bring this vision to life.

What We’re Working On

Right now, we’re structuring the key moments that will make up the two-minute opening film. Since our story blends memories from the past with the present, we want the script to feel natural, emotional, and engaging.

Some of the main elements we’re focusing on:

  • The Opening Scene – Figuring out how Adrian and Tati start their conversation at the beach and transition into the first memory.
  • Flashback Sequences – Ensuring each memory scene feels meaningful and contributes to the overall story.
  • Dialogue that Feels Real – Since this is a romance, we want the interactions between the characters to feel authentic and not overly scripted.
  • Incorporating Multiple Locations – We’re trying to include scenes in a mall, school, and Tati’s friends’ house to add depth to the story and make the flashbacks feel more immersive.

Keeping It Organized

Since we’re working with a tight two-minute time frame, I’ll be adding estimated timestamps between scenes to keep everything structured. This will help make sure the pacing flows well and that each moment has enough time to build without feeling rushed.

Title Still in the Works

As far as the title goes, we have a few ideas, but nothing is set in stone yet. We have a codename for our opening film which is currently “Cambridge Romance”. We’ll announce the final title in an upcoming blog once we’ve all agreed on the best fit for the film.

What’s Next?

Once the script is completed, we’ll move on to planning a shot list to ensure that everything visually aligns with what we’ve written, but unfortunately that won’t be shown until after filming is completely over only because I myself know that there will be plenty of changes. After that, we’ll focus on finalizing locations and scheduling production.

We’re excited about how everything is coming together, and we’ll be sharing more updates soon. Stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes details as we continue developing the film.
