Blog #10: The Interview: The Plan for Our Refined News Report

Hey everyone, Adrian here again! After scrapping our first attempt at The Edit – News Report, we’ve come up with a refined plan that’s not only more structured but also includes some fun and creative twists. Let me share what we’ve got in mind for tomorrow’s filming session.

The New Setup=

We’re sticking with Tatiana as the news interviewer, but this time, we’ve added a fun new prop to the mix: a rack of $100 prop bills. Before the interview begins, I’ll walk up to the interviewer and say, “One dollar or interview?” as I flash the rack of money. To make it more awkward and funny, I’ve already told the interviewees not to respond to this question. Their silence will make it look like they don’t really have a choice, setting up a subtle comedic tone.

The Interview Questions

Once Tatiana takes over, she’ll ask the following three questions to keep things focused on financial wellbeing:

  1. “What’s your goal, and how did you come up with your budget?”
  2. “What’s been the hardest part of saving money?”
  3. “Do you have any tips for other teens trying to save for something big?”

These questions are designed to give viewers helpful insights while keeping the tone engaging and relatable.

Props and My DIY Touch

I’ve created a pair of sunglasses using the creepy eyeballs from a Nightmare Foxy plushie. The eyeballs stick out of the frames, giving them a weird and unsettling look. Throughout all the filming, I’ll be standing in the background of the frame—hands in my hoodie pockets—wearing the sunglasses and adding a touch of humor to the otherwise serious tone. My role here is meant to lighten the mood and give the video a unique and quirky vibe.

Team Roles

I’ve already discussed the new plan with my group, and everyone knows their role:

  • Savannah will be recording the entire session, ensuring the shots are clean and steady.
  • Amaris will hold the laptop with the questions so Tatiana can easily glance at them during the interviews.
  • Tatiana will handle the interviews, keeping things smooth and professional.

With everyone’s responsibilities clearly defined, we’re set up for a much more organized shoot.

The Interviewees

For interviewees, we’re hoping to get a mix of teachers and students. On the teacher side, we’d love to include Dr. Felix (my psychology teacher), Mr. Melton (head of the Digital Business Magnet), and Ms. West (head of the iPrep Magnet). As for students, we’re aiming for three randomly selected participants to keep things fresh and varied. It’ll be exciting to see how they respond to the questions and bring their own perspectives to the report.

Final Thoughts

With this refined plan, we’re feeling much more confident about tomorrow’s session. The mix of serious questions, quirky humor, and creative props should make for an engaging and unique news report. I can’t wait to see how it all comes together and share the final product with you all soon. Stay tuned for updates on how this project turns out!
