Blog #36: Incorporating Bicycles for an Old-School Feel

Hey everyone, Adrian here! As we continue refining the details of our opening scene, we’ve decided to incorporate bicycles into the beginning of the film. Instead of just starting at the beach, we want to show Adrian and Tati riding their bikes to the location, adding a nostalgic and old-school touch to the scene. Here is a picture of a hangout me and Tati did once with our bikes! These are going to be the bikes that will be used for the film.

Why Bicycles?

Bikes instantly give off a classic, timeless feel, which fits perfectly with the romance and memory-based theme of Fading Into You. We want the opening to feel intimate and cinematic—like something out of an old romance film.

The visuals of two people riding their bikes toward the beach, feeling free and lost in the moment, will help set the tone before we transition into the conversation that triggers the flashback sequence.

How It Adds to the Storytelling

  • Symbolism: Biking together represents the journey of their relationship, moving forward together.
  • Cinematography Opportunities: We can capture some smooth, aesthetically pleasing tracking shots of them riding.
  • Stronger Opening: Instead of just starting at the beach, we create a more natural flow leading into the main setting.

What’s Next?

We’re now figuring out the best way to shoot these scenes while keeping the camera movement smooth and engaging. As we continue locking down shot ideas, we’ll keep you updated on how we plan to execute it.
