Blog #33: Choosing Our Scene Locations

Hey everyone, Adrian here! As we continue planning our romance film opening, we’ve been deciding on the best locations to film each scene. Since our film takes place in both the present and the past, we want locations that feel realistic, visually appealing, and fit the story’s emotional tone. Here’s what we’ve got so far:

Scene 1: The Beach (Opening and Ending)

The first and last scenes of our film take place at the beach, where Adrian and Tati reflect on their past. We have three possible locations:

  • Private Beach in My Neighborhood – This is the most likely choice since it’s easily accessible and not too crowded. (The image featured in this blog takes place in this exact location).
  • Deering Point – Located just five minutes from my house, this could work as an alternative if the private beach isn’t available.
  • An Actual Beach – While it would offer the most authentic ocean backdrop, it could be harder to film due to crowds and noise.

Scene 2: The School

The second scene will take place at my school, after school hours. This setting will be used for one of the memory-based flashback scenes, giving insight into the characters’ lives before they got together. Since we already have access to this location, it’s an easy and practical choice for filming.

Scene 3: The Mall

The third location will be at a mall, where we’ll film another flashback. This scene will show Adrian and Tati hanging out with their friends, unaware that they’re in the same place until they notice each other. We’re still finalizing which mall we’ll be filming at; however we are thinking Dadeland at the moment.

What’s Next?

We’re still locking in final details, but these locations will help bring the film to life. Each setting plays a key role in showing how the relationship between Adrian and Tati developed over time. As we move forward, we’ll continue scheduling shoot dates and getting permission where needed.

Stay tuned for more updates as we move closer to filming!
