Blog #26: A Slight Adjustment to Our Film’s Structure

Hey everyone, Adrian here! We’ve made a slight adjustment to the structure of our memory-based romance film, and we’re really excited about how it’s shaping up. Our goal is to make the storytelling more immersive, blending the past and present seamlessly while keeping the emotional depth of our story intact.

New Story Structure

The film will start in the present, with Adrian and Tati at the beach, sitting together on a bench or another quiet spot. As we talk about how we first met, the scene will use a transition to smoothly fade into the past, keeping the same exact location and seating position.

Here’s the twist: our first date actually happened at this same beach spot, so when we transition into the past, it’ll feel like we’re going back in time to that moment. The change in costumes, lighting, and subtle visual cues will help differentiate the past from the present, making it clear to the audience that we’ve traveled back in time.

Incorporating Other Past Scenes

While the main flashback starts at the same beach location, we don’t want to limit the memory sequences to just that moment. Throughout the past scene, we plan to integrate other flashback moments in between, such as:

  • mall scene, possibly showing one of our first interactions.
  • school scene, where we’re seen talking about each other to our friends before we officially meet.

These scenes will be inserted naturally within the past timeline, using jump cuts to make the storytelling flow seamlessly. We’re still deciding on which additional flashbacks will best strengthen the story, and we’ll share more details in an upcoming blog once we refine the ideas.

What’s Next?

Right now, we’re in the process of putting together a storyboard, scouting the right locations, and scheduling production. There’s still a lot of planning to do, but we’re excited about where this project is heading.

Stay tuned for more updates—we’ll be sharing more ideas, location details, and behind-the-scenes planning in future blogs as we continue developing this story!
